The practice of indirect bonding starts with a 3D virtual model of your teeth using a scanner (iTero). This process only takes a few minutes and provides us with an exact replica of your mouth. From there, with simulation software, we create a digital treatment plan and predict the movement of the teeth. We can, this way, predetermine meticulously the ideal place of each individual bracket, to move all the teeth into the ideal position.
Elemetrix will create a custom template that allows us to transfer the brackets from the digital model to your teeth. You’ll come back into the office to have your custom template fitted and your braces attached. Your own teeth will have to undergo some preparatory work in order to accept the braces. This involves preparing the surface of the teeth for the adhesive for the braces, as well as preparing the surfaces of any crowns. You will also have a short period to wait while the adhesive cures, once the braces are in place. Indirect bonding allows all of your brackets to be placed at once, taking the traditional braces installation time from around 40-60 minutes down to just 20-30 minutes.
Placing the brackets in a proper position on the digital model eliminates the difficult process of placing orthodontic brackets directly on the teeth. It also takes much less time, makes possible the movement of teeth in a more accurate way, is more comfortable, causes for fewer loose brackets and virtually eliminates the need of bends in the wires.
